Project Information

This bowl is made from some maple logs I received from my daughter which were harvested in a suburb of Orlando, FL. The logs were cut up into manageable sizes, wrapped in plastic and allowed to spalt. Now, three years later, I have been making bowls that have amazing spalting patterns. This lidded bowl is 7 inches in diameter by 4 inches high and is finished with satin lacquer.

Great way to use the spalted wood. I've harvested spalted poplar (so-so) and hickory (fantastic!) from my property and am attempting to spalt cherry by standing short logs upright in the soil. Here's a panel of spalted hickory to inlay into a box lid:
