Very unique…reminds me of a native american rug. Don't think I'd use it either.

A very nice mix of wood and shapes with the inlays. I not sure I would cut on it either…..

accurate work, neat, great design, talented, nice finish…i wouldn't want to use it either…too pretty to cut anything on it.

FYI: These are easier to make than they appear.Its alot of careful setup and cutting, but its pretty straight forward.

I'd have to venture that you have made your own inlay banding at some juncture, Andy. Still and all, this is wonderful, and quite inspiring (My brain is squirming. I smell sawdust!)

@Douglas-No,actually I havent made banding yet,but made up similar strips for earrings a few years back.Quite tedious and exacting.I prefer working with these sizes . These boards are pretty much a case of repetetive sized strips cut using stops and a few angle changes.Some boards I use the mortiser to punch holes at odd angles to form diamonds,even overlaping them.
TIP: Dont mix edge and end grain.I did in this board but it is very difficult to sand flat becuase the hardness varies so much.It is difficult as it is because these woods are quite dissimilar.

Andy: A great board. It's definetely a keeper. And who says you can't have wallhanging cutting board.

Just be careful when the in-laws showup and run the electric carving knife across it. Then you get to sand it again.
