Project Information

This was something that I had been wanting to build for my son for quite some time now. I gave it to him for Christmas this year. He is 4 1/2 right now and he mostly stores his toy cars in it (although he does have one real set of sockets and a screwdriver in there). I wanted to built it so that it would last his lifetime. He might not appreciate it right now as much as he will when I'm gone. I think that is one of the greatest things about buiding something out of wood: if you build it right, it should last for generations to use/enjoy. This is the first project that I have posted since I found the LJ site a few months ago. Wow! What a great site! Thanks for taking a look.

Is that a magnetic strip inside? Good idea if it is. Looks a lot better than the one I built my son a couple of years ago.

That is really a nice tool box. you're right, he will really appreciate it when he get older if he doesn't already because his dad built it for him. Maybe he'll build one for his son too someday!

The strip you see is for a sliding tray/mini toolbox that my son and I will build together. I have everything cut to size. We just have to cut the finger joints, add a bottom, and add a handle like the one on the main box. I'll post pictures of that when we finish it.

Thanks for the kind words fellas!
