Nice work! Do you use hook knives to carve the bowl? I'm starting to gather tools for spoon carving since I cut a cherry tree down from my yard. I have blanks ready to go next to the ice cream in the freezer:)

Woodcox, I don't use hook knives, I use a gouge for the bowl and then spoke shaves, rasps and scrapers for everything else. I would like to try the hook knives one day though,

Thanks everyone! These are a lot of fun to make and they require very little tools to make them. You should give them a try, its a great way to use scraps.

Nice work, I just received a box of Jatoba flooring scraps and started to carve a spatula, might post the next attempt, if the grain looks better. Have you tried to bend the handles ?
