Project Information

I've been busy making a lot of pens for Christmas orders. I just started learning to do Celtic Knots a few weeks ago, and a friend ordered a few for his daughters and niece. They turned out pretty good. The red ones are Bloodwood with Maple knots, the dark one is Walnut with Maple knots, and the light one is Russian Olive with acrylic knots. The Russian Olive came from his back yard. He cut it down and I asked him to save me a few logs. The red pens with the white crosses on the ends are Bloodwood and Maple. They're designed to represent the Danish flag. I made one and gave it to a Danish friend, and now she's ordered more as gifts for her Danish friends. All are finished with CA glue. All of the kits are just PSI Funline (less than $2 each), but I used wood or acrylic to make the center band, this way I'm able to make the pen as thick as I want to in the middle.
I also included photos of the Celtic Knot blank that I glued up and work in progress on the lathe and final product. So many of my friends either don't understand or don't believe the process when I try to explain it to them, so maybe this will help.

Well done, I would say you have the knots down to perfection. The combos and center band look great.
