Project Information

Most of my watches live in a drawer but I recently added a solar-powered Citizen to my collection. Rather than leaving it sit out in a window, I gave it a box with a plexiglas top so it can stay charged and protected from dust.

Construction was simple, using some figured claro walnut for the body, with splined miters for the corners. I set the whole box in a lathe chuck to cut the circular window on the top which added some interest. With this configuration, the top also shows off more of the wood grain.

The inside is covered with self-adhesive velvet and I slowly built an oil finish to close the grain.
