Project Information

Small size reclaimed wood BASEBALL BAT

I made this bat as a birthday present for my (back then) nine years old elder son.
We have no tradition of playing baseball here, but my son was exposed to it at school, and wished he had one.

The wood is pine offcuts, leftovers from commerially availabe glued sheets. I picked them up at a dumpster. Why pine? (I see your eyebrow raised…). Because it was available, suited the width I needed, and it is relatively light. True, it is presumably too soft, but this specific type of pine is not as soft as white pine. I guess ash would be nice, had I had any…

The project is elaborately described, along with photos of the process, in this accompanying blog entry (to comply with site guidlines).

Thanks for watching!
Cheers,
Yuval

Thanks for sharing the process in the linked blog. It is nice to see your child enjoying the gift for his birthday, made by his father.
