Project Information

A square sliding dovetail wine rack. Made of home center 1x pine. The shelves are adjustable in the dovetails and fit anywhere in the unit. Shelves are just big enough for a bottle of wine and have a front lip so they don't roll of. The base unit has a false lip all the way around making it appear deeper and hiding the French cleat mount. It was stained with a weathered grey and finish with several coats of polyurethane. I did not have a router table at the time so I shop built a table top MDF router table to make the dovetails. I have since made a real stand alone router table. The rack was designed to fit exactly 3 bottles wide for a max of 12, but it looks better with the staggered pattern for us.

The wife loves it and so do all her friends, so this most likely wont be the last one.

Thanks Garry!

PS: I had the chance to visit Scotland a few years ago. Traveled the highlands, Edinburgh and Glasgow! Amazing country and great people. Hope to return someday. Have a glass of Ben Nevis signle malt for me!

Brilliant and so simple design. Really like it,

Garry

I really like that - I make other types of wine racks and this comes at an opportune time, that is if you don't mind a copy cat ( ME )

What method did you use for doing the sliding dovetails. Did you do everything on a router table?
