Project Information

as we begin our 35th year of custom furniture making at dorset custom furniture, it becomes more and more apparent that organizing our photos is one of the greater challenges one faces as one makes more and more stuff. i often meet with clients and i say, 'here's a photo of a piece kind of like you're describing' and then scroll through 3 or 4 minutes of links, boring them to tears, until i finally give up and change the subject or promise to send a link later. so it goes. over and over. as part of my new year's resolution, i plan to attempt to get it together this year. my first step was taken on new years day where i posted a slide show of our work from 2013 so, if you want to get some idea of what a five man shop produces in a year, click that link. once you get there, once you start the show by clicking a photo, you can scroll through the photos as fast as you can click the > arrow. check the captions for the links to blog posts or website listings.

my next step was to try to gather the over 100 different dining tables we have made, with links to web connections for each photo. you can access that slide show from this link. again, check the captions for the links to blog posts or website listings.

i have found that more and more potential clients are finding us through google images, and i think the more photos you can get up there in cyberspace, the more buisiness you can hope to generate.

finally, here's a link to a blog post that describes the process of posting a slide show using the free google program picasa.

Dan,

Good Luck on getting organized. I find I have to fix something before I fix something to get to what I wanted to fix? LOL! Really!

Dan, you know I'm an admiring fan of your work. I think the element that most appeals to me in your point of view is "strength". Your pieces are masculine in the sense that they have the strength to support weight in a comforting and reassuring way. It is uplifting and solid at the same time. I will never have your incredible talent, but I certainly am thrilled to see the wonderful pieces that you create. Thank you for sharing…......

Fantastic body of work for just one year Dan. It's easy to see the quality of design and woodworking/metal working skills that go into your production, but the thing that really shines through is the great amount of care and pride you take in whatever you build, and the your unique and beautiful finishes are the dot on the i. I can only wonder where all this creativity and skill comes from.
