Sliced Salvage Wood Necklace

Thanks, Dave from IL. Admittedly, it is a fairly common design used with semi-precious stones, primarily in the Southwest style. We've spent some time in Northern New Mexico which I am sure had an influence. Do you have any experience working with "rotted" wood? I have seen some magnificent and bewildering grain impacts. I like to combine the pieces with other natural materials or something that offers some juxtaposition, like wood and metal (both building materials with vastly different attributes). Wow, I sound like one of those artist types, huh?

I'd be interested to see other "wooden jewelry" that you've made. Items like this would make great low cost gifts for family and friends.

We spent a lot of time in New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada about 2 years ago. I think you're right about seeing a lot of that type jewelry out there. Whenever I'm seeking lumber, logs etc, I always grab the spalted piece first. My last project had white rot walnut on the top and bottom of the case. It makes for interesting projects.
