Project Information

Just finished this,

Slant front Tool Cabinet and Chest

I Built it using 3/4" Maple plywood for cabinet cases , recycled Maple hardwood flooring for edging trim and drawer fronts. Drawers bodys are G1S plywood.

The plans came from Shop Notes Magazine, Setting Up Shop issue. I found the plans for the base cabinet to be very accurate and well detailed. Everything fit as described in the instructions.

The upper tool chest instructions were not as good, vague to say the least. I especially had problems with the drawer slides. ( after the glue was dry! ) But adjustments were made, (some call them cover ups) and it all works well.

I finished it with Minwax light oak stain for some color and 4 coats of Varathane semi gloss

I'm going to fit tools in now and put dividers in drawers as needed.

All in all I'm very pleased with the outcome and may build a couple more of the base units with flat tops.
A good learning experience.

Thanks again.
I ordered a dozen of the handles and have received them. the reason I liked them the handle is smooth from end to end and the screws are on the inside of the drawer. I am going to use then on a tool cabinet under my workbench.
Thanks again for the good information.

Wow, very nice! What else can I say. When my shop is finished, are they ever, I will have lots of built in drawers, so I am not sure I will need a tool chest like this one, but if I do I will return to look this over again.
