Project Information

Nothing earth shattering here about the box. It's simple maple and padauk.

What really got me excited was how I made it.

You see my old 113.298762 Craftsman table saw is not very good at getting the blade tilt to 45 degrees for miters.

So I made this simple jig to cut the 45 degree miters while keeping my saw blade at 90 degrees.

I was very happy with how tight the box miters are using this jig.

Very nice work and the miters look good.

The jig is great and you are getting the most out of the saw…Good Idea

Thanks y'all. Being able to make tight miters on my old Craftsman makes me smile.

Very nice box. I like the wood combos. Those miters do look very tight. That sled is a nice addition to that old saw.

Ribs, I like the box and your jig. The jig obviously works well, should save you lots of time, and makes cutting the 45s much easier.

I would suggest some additions to the jig for you to consider. Put your guide block at the back of your jig, move the edge of your jig up to your saw blade, add a stop to be able to create sides of exactly the same length.

It may look something like this or you may come up with a better design.

Keep boxing and keep posting.
