Project Information

We just moved into our new house and we love our new cabinets. The large drawers have tons of room but quickly became a mess with everything sliding all over the place. We had a cheap walmart plastic silverware organizer that was overflowing with utensils, so it was time to hit the shop and make my own.
I wanted to create something that would hold everything nice and neat and could be changed if needed. I started with 1/2" rough sawn oak I had picked up free from a local mill about a year ago. I finished this down to 3/8" thick pieces, and cut my dados to hold everything in place. Each piece of this organizer can easily be removed and changed if needed. It works perfectly and gives me a little pride each time I open the drawer.

Very nice. you've inspired me to make one. Waaaaay better than the plastic ones that just don't seem to be configured for the utensils you have.

Looks good. I did the same thing with some 1/4" MDF. The oak looks really nice.

Thought about this the other day and got caught up in something else.
Now, after seeing your nice one, I'm back on the trail.
Nice job Mike, and thanks.
