To get better accuracy when adjusting the height of my tablesaw blade and router bits (hand-held or router table mounted), here is the height gauge I designed and made to be used with my digital caliper.
Two 3/4'' MDF scraps, one 1/4'' carriage bolt, appropriate washer and wing nut, and finally two 2'' wood screws. The base is 4'' square and the upright is 3-1/2'' wide and 5'' long. To receive the caliper, the 1/8'' groove is made at the tablesaw using a standard 1/8'' thick blade. The corner of the upright has been cut so the gauge can be placed over the tool to be adjusted. After drilling the 1/4'' hole for the bolt, I made I relief cut with a hacksaw to be able to clamp/tighten the caliper in its groove.
In use, place the tip of the caliper on the tablesaw or the router table top or base plate, and zero out the digital caliper. Finally, raise the tip of the caliper to the desired height and adjust the blade or the router bit at this level.
