Project Information

In keeping with my goal of making my garage a more useful shop, I built 2 wall hanging cabinets out of 3/4" oak plywood. The construction is 1/2" deep rabbets for the frame, and frame and panel doors also made out of oak (used plywood for the panels). I chose to use the tablesaw for all of the rabbets and dado cuts, which i won't do again. Especially for the door rails and stiles a set of router bits would have given a much more consistent result.

The finish is Minwax water based poly (4 coats).

This isn't fine woodworking by any means, but i wanted to test my abilities at building cabinetry in the garage before I tried to make cabinets for inside the house, and other than some minor issues with the door frame joinery, I thought they came out pretty well.

Having these has also helped me clean up the garage quite a bit.

Prototypes are good. When you build for the hose you won't make those mistakes, and you won't have to think so hard? And you won't make those mistakes again. You'll make new ones! LOL! Nice job!
