Project Information

Just completed an air filtration system for my workshop. We had to replace our air conditioner and heater system earlier this summer so I kept the furnace blower fan for future use. I used the mobile air cleaner cart built by Jay Bates as the basis for my build https://jayscustomcreations.com/2016/05/mobile-air-cleaner-cart/. My overall dimensions are 21"D x 29"W x 39"H and uses four 20" x 20" filters. I've got it sitting on top my garage refrigerator so as to hopefully pull the air up high.

like the idea of reusing the furnace blower fan for this project. Is it a single speed or VS fan? Are you operating it at full or lower speed? How often do you need to change filters?
Good thought to mount it high.

It's a three speed fan and I'm operating it on medium. So far it seems that I'll have to change the filter about every three months.

Awesome Dusty. Anything you can do to keep those fines out of your lungs is a step in the right direction.

Thanks for posting, and congrats on the 3.

No doubt, someone with your name definitely needs this :)

My Dad came up with an idea to use a furnace blower to gently lift the cover on our swimming pool to keep the leaves off. I mounted one in the plenum of our house a/c system to blow cool air into my shop. There are a lot of these fans available at your local hvac repair shop just for the asking.

Well done, and congrats on the pick for daily 3!
