How thick is the Cherry in the sides? Have some nice seasoned Cherry from a dead tree of two years ago and would like to try one of these. Looks like a great weekend project. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful! What are the rivets, brass or copper?

The thickness varies depending on the size of the box. Basically from .062" to .085". As far as rivets there are none. You use brass nails and peen the ends on an anvil to secure the ends to hold the box together. If anyone wants to make these types of boxes I would recommend checking out John Wilson from Charlotte Mich. He is probably the most knowledgeable expert in the country on the subject. He also has a web site that has information and supplies on how to make these boxes.
