Lovely dovetails, well done. I can see that the rear feet did NOT get dovetails, makes sense over all. What finish did you use, stain or shellac?

A constructive design suggestion, if I may: since this piece isn't going against a wall, I might have mitered the base at the back and made it continuous, even if that departed from the original you were basing it on. But that's just my $0.02.
