Project Information

Serving tray with epoxy resin bottom. Tray is 13"x17"x2". Poplar sides, baltic birch bottom. Beveled ends on the table saw, cut handles with forstner bit, jigsaw and router with flush trim bit. Bottom and sides joined with dominos and glue. Zinsser Bin primer. Rattle can rustoleum paint. Total Boat epoxy and abalone inlay chips. After paint, poured thin coat of epoxy, sprinkled in some abalone chips, followed by finish pour of epoxy 5 hours later.

That paint looks great!
I did a similar process on BB plywood with the same paint. Sprayed, then rubbed down with #4/0 wool until all the grain pattern disappeared. Followed with a clear spray of poly.

With the epoxy, it'll be perfect for serving dewey drinks and other items that would eventually trash a wood base finished with something less durable and water proof.
