Project Information

I recently bought some new wood (from Peru according to Woodworkers Resource). It resembles a spalted wood and may very well be spalted although that was not indicated. In any case it also contains some interesting insect holes. I used it to make the main body of the bowl shown and was pleased with the way it turned and finished. The middle layer is Monterillo and the base is Shedua. The bowl stands about 5.5" tall and is about 10" in diameter.

This is a gorgeous turning. The wood combination works well and they have a beautiful grain and coloration. Projects, like this one, always make me regret not having a lathe in my shop and missing out on the fun fo creating beautiful pieces like this.
