-My Modest little shop-

This is my shop such as it is today. It is very much a work in progress as you can see. I just recently added the Veritas vice to my bench. The bench itself I bought at a equipment sell off for about $80. The rest of the shop is coming along. As you can see it is half of a tandem garage (in a townhouse) and over all it is about 16' x 11'. If I need more room for a project I can move the car which opens things up alot, for doing a large assembly or something like that. Next I need to do lighting. I have the lighting but apparently it requires some installation and assembly…who knew…

Thanks for looking.

Update - FInally got the lighting installed as well as some racks for wood storage (at least a start on that). What a difference the lighting makes going from a single 100w bulb to 32ft of flourescent. I can see! I may still add some task lighting over the work areas because it's easy to cast a shadow from above the work. Put up another little cabinet to get the stereo up off the floor too. It's nice to have open space, even when it's only a few square feet. It makes such a difference just to have things up off the floor.

Greg, this is a pretty good looking shop that you have to work in. I like the glass that you have in there. I have always found it easier to work under natural lighting. It looks like you have organized your shop well and you have some nice tools to play with.

Bummer about having to share your shop space with the car. I tried for a long time to do the same thing but eventually gave up and let my truck sit outside. Not only did it avoid the constant tear down and set up but it also gave me more room for tools!

Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed touring your shop.

Greg, I like your shop. It's very clean and neat and seems to be a great work space. Don't wait too long to put the lights up. When you do you will find out that it makes so much more difference. I know because I waited to long to put mine up.

Yeah, not too many shops out there with tiled floor and crown mouldings! It was converted by the original owner to be a party/recreation room. Very fancy….

Yes. To work on or to sell. I haven't decided yet, which is why it is still sitting there…
