Project Information
I'd been using a little director's chair style stool to sit on while working at my new scroll saw and had been having such severely aggravated SI joint dysfunction that I couldn't walk for a few days. The solution? No, not take more breaks from the scroll saw, build a better chair!
This chair is based on a design from Make magazine. the main chair pieces are cut from a single 2'x3' piece of plywood. I added some bits of 2"x2" because it just didn't seem right to drill and screw into the ends of plywood like the pattern called for.
Ultimately, the chair is a little wobbly, but it's so much sturdier than my old fabric strap stool that I don't care in the slightest. Plus, this chair doesn't squeeze your hips funky which for me and my weakened body causes excruciating pain! I'm all for pain avoidance.
