Showcase cover image for Scrap wood to refreshment aids

Project Information

I am always looking for things to make with scraps. Numerous variations of these openers have been previously posted. Fender washer connected with wood screw. About half of them have rare earth magnets to catch the bottle cap. Various woods including walnut, yellow heart, red heart, bloodwood, hard maple. Finished with a couple of coats of poly.

These are definitely on my to-do list. I wonder, how does the wood screw hold up to the prying force repeatedly? I'm the kind of person who likes to open a lot of beers.

Maybe someone else can comment on the screw durability. I went with a coarse thread in hopes of it lasting and a larger asher to distribute the prying force. I open a lot of beers but mostly use wall mounted opener. I have not had any of the screws pull out yet.
