Project Information

I had a lot of different scraps of wood and needed a door to prevent sawdust from entering the back room of my workshop. I had a sheet of plywood, which I measured out to the dimensions of the door opening and then proceeded to cut and paste ( actually glue) all the pieces to the plywood. This process took two days. I then put several coats of poly before I hung the door. It is made with white and red oak, cherry, blood wood, maple, poplar, padauk, and walnut. This was tedious but fun and I have a door.

I love it…could be submitted to MOMA as a modern interp of neo classical abstract expressionist…ie. rectilinear wood vs Pollock's paint splaters…

I thought that I kept a lot of scraps. Unfortunately, you finding a good use for them will mean that I will keep even more of them. Really cool result.

Great idea, and great outcome. I bet your shop feels a little more spacious with some of that scrap used up, too.
