Project Information
This project was supposed to be a Christmas present, however time didn't allow it. Thankfully the recipient - (daughter's boyfriend of 3 years) has his Birthday in January, so I said it is going to be a birthday present instead!
Recently a fellow LJ (sorry I couldn't find you again after I pinched your design to give you credit, but you know who you are) Made a cap rack, I had this mirror that I had already etched and was wondering how to frame it when I saw the rack. So I decided to incorporate the two.
Again I don't know the wood (any help with ID ing it will be greatly appreciated) as it started life as an outdoor seat that the dog decided to chew while freaking out during a thunderstorm. Anyway since we didn't use it much I demolished it and set it aside. It really worked out well for this project and looks great sanded down to 240 & coated it with a couple coats of poly.
Anyone interested in the etching process- well I was sitting reading the dremel catalogue, as you do, and found out that the dremel etches glass. So I mucked around a bit and just went for it (this isn't the first picture) It is really very relaxing and the results are great to look at.
