Workshop Information

Location
United States
This past summer (2016) I decided I'd really like to make a guitar, but to do that I'd need to get serious about the workshop. My shop is most of a two car garage. I'd been farting around for years, collecting tools and stuff but didn't have a decent workbench, vise, enough storage, etc.

I've also taken a number of courses thru the years with a preference for hand tools when possible.

The workbench is actually good size, but the previous owner was a gear head, and it was covered in this oily plywood. So I covered it with his Southern Yellow Pine flooring I'd had sitting under the porch for years. I also installed a proper vise.

I also noticed thru much of my searching around the web for shop ideas, that there were lots of good ones out here on LumberJocks. In a way I guess I'm a long time lurker, first time poster.

Currently putting in some basic dust collection, and more…

That extra flooring made an amazing difference in the shop. And it was the right price too! It went from not wanting to set even a coffee cup down, much less a nice piece of wood, to ready for guitarville.

Good luck on that giant ukulele :)
