Project Information

This is actually a multi-purpose bench I built almost 2 years ago that was exposed to the elements and today I decided to get it re-oiled
It is made of old door frames, that is easily found in construction trash bins here in Sao Paulo when people remodel their houses or apartments. The wood is very strong, but the contractors who install the door frames do not treat it properly, so after some years the end that is in the floor gets humid and begin to putrefy in that area, so it is taken out and thrown away, but 90% of the wood is still perfect. The last two pictures I took during its construction, experimenting with my recent sharpened chisels.
Easy to make, cheap and very useful. (not beautiful though!)

Sometimes I find that this rustic look is being used more and more in very nice decor; it has a way of bringing a lot of unique character to a room without having to be all shiny and brilliant.

Great looking table!

Nice work. Great use of dovetails, even though no-one will ever see them!

Thanks for your post,

Garry
