Project Information

Maple and walnut box with solid brass hinges and dark brown velvet liner.
The design of this box is a follow up of the 1882 box I posted recently .

On this box I thought I try a more pronunced diamond pattern by veneering maple onto walnut and then cutting the pattern and it worked out beautiful .
See the blog on cutting pattern jig here .

I love the result of this process and suits this style of box very much .
I will further develop this process which has many more possibilitys and keeps me thinking whats next .
I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think .

A definate japanese flavour, and I have to agree with all the other posts it has exceptional contrasting features.

Now just when I thought I had satisfied my curiosity as to how you made them I find I have to go do another one!

Sand indeed, always great to get some "dry" humour along the way as well. I guess sand beats pitch!

You've definitely got your own visual style. I see the thumbnail and before I read the name of who did it, my brain is like, "Yeah, that's kiefer."
