Sample tray or tray for samples...

oh how fancy are we getting now….oh scented maple….oh la la….well i have a tray that holds all natural ice cream, the first two are rocky road walnut and butter pecan…so…how do you like them cookies…...oh and it was made using my H and H plunge router…..

I sent this as a PM but I think I want to post it here too….

I should not have to justify what I do… but to please you and no I am not mad….
I took some rough stock and jointed it, both face and edge, thicknessed it, I ripped it on my table saw, and crosscut to size…. then i took it to the router table and edge profiled the board with a round over bit…
Then and only then did I cut the recesses on my CNC…. could have used a template and router… but I have a CNC
It was then sanded using a drum sander and a ROS…. and the edges hand sanded….
The signs started out the same way as rough stock… went through all the woodworking processes of dressing…then laser engraved the words…could have used a pyrography burner but I have a Laser….. the posts were cut square on my bandsaw and glued to the sign…. holes were drilled using a drill press….ends of posts were rounded on the disc sander to fit in the round holes..
I then hand rubbed the tray with Danish Oil Finish and the signs were sprayed with Poly…
PS all the parts are solid wood….

Very nice trays, Larry. I have a milling machine and would do some of those plunge cuts with my mill for ease of machining, too!! Mine would just be HNC machining!!.............Nice going….............Jim

Looks great Larry. It seems that there are end of applications for that lazer engraver. A pun not a misspelling!

Larry it looks great! I love the idea of the signs, and they can always be switched out, too which is nice (if they ever change flavors of yogurts). did you happen to make any extra blank signs?

on a separate note, IMO - When people question integration of computer controlled devices, they tend to expose some jealousy on their behalf, and ignorance at the possibilities they contain. CNC's and Engravers are just TOOLS- its the person behind the computer that does the work.

Jealousy is a NASTY Cologne, and you can always tell when someone is wearing it!
