This is a very interesting piece, it has a Mexican feel to it I think. I love the log slice flower (for lack of a better term in the center. Nice use of live edge.

Not sure, but it looks south western/ Mexican to me. Nice work. What is it supposed to be? Not classical I hope :))

I see that as a compliment- sorry- I think? but your cross is simply carved- colorful- with a big flower in the center - I can seriously visualize this being inside of a mission in Mexico. If I could insert some photos here.. (never mastered that yet) I would show you some examples of crosses in Mexican missions. :)

I don't know what style, just something I dreamed up to match the Podium (another project posting).

When I think of "Mexican" I think of drawers that don't work, doors that don't close, a really rough finish that snags fabric on a dust rag, just very low quality work. That's what I was thinking. I can see what you are seeing though. Thanks for the comments.

Not all of Mexico is low quality junk. I find much of their art and architecture very beautiful and your cross is also very beautiful. :) Did not mean to offend.

He TopamaxSurvivor: I agree with your "debt" tag line. I got out of debt in 1997, ooohh what a feeling!

I also like Topas quotes. I still have some debt- a house mortgage and the dreaded school loans… but no credit cards or anything else like that. And let me tell you- even just having those 2 necessary evils and all the insurance premiums and property, school and other taxes that go with day to day living is trying on the soul.

This has a very nice rustic and ethnic flair to it using the wood as a "found" object and not altering it with too many manmade tool techniques. The piece has a very humble, yet ethereal voice. Beautiful use of the cedar.
