Project Information

Which chair is the real Roycroft made in 1901? The one on the left is the original. I made this reproduction to complete a set of dining chairs after failing to find another original. I disassembled the original in order to match the joinery as well as repair the loose fits. I am not a carver, so matching the roycroft orb took a long time. This was a fun project-I have about 200 hrs in it.

You did a great job matching the look and color. Most of us don't get the opportunity to take an original apart. Being able to see how they put it together should have helped you build the new one. Did you take any pictures of the original when you had it apart?

Absolutely beautiful! I would never tell them apart from here. What was your finishing process if you don't mind sharing?

Outstanding job - I was going to guess the one on the left was the original, but that was strictly a lucky gift on my part :)). Good job.
