Router template square - Festool MFS type (post)

Hey, Mads, that is a great fixture to have. It may have to hang on the ceiling as all the wall space is taken.It will save a lot of time making special sized ones all the time. I could use it on my current project that I mad a special one for. I will have to copy your design, if you don't mind. I saved it to favorites and will start drawing it up.

Cool take with the homemade hardware.

They do work well, only problem with mine was I used 20mm thick material but most of the cutting boards are a lot thicker Was designed and used for juice groves on the boards.

I'm w/Jim in that I always make a custom unit when needed, such a waste of time when a versatile jig like yours would make it a snap 8^)

With so much quality hardware available today, it's easy to make-a-fake of almost any jig or fixture that you understand what it is, or how it works.

Nice job. I'm not a Green tool fanboy by any stretch, but if you own a router and want to route a square, or rectangular shape, that jig is the ticket.

I were thinking not to post this project, as it were seen so many places, but posting me reminds me how important sharing is, that just because I have seen it, doesn't mean everybody else have.
Also why it's important that no project is to big / small or advanced / simple, since we in a community all are on different levels and work in different fields, so what seems simple for you, might be next level for someone else and what I can do today after ten years of woodworking, is not what I could back then - thank you all for being able to keep inspiring me.

Jim, I did not invent this, so I'm a copy my self, laughs. So yes I will be happy if you make one and find it useful, that's why we post, to inspire. When you don't use it, just take it apart and hang it on a bracket, then it takes almost no space, that's what I'll do. Look forward to see your version. Thanks'n cheers.

Duck, Thanks, I do like to nerd a wee bit, at first I were just thinking two T-track nuts on each, I'm sure that would be enough, as long as the wood is not too soft.

Andre, Yes I can imagine that problem, but would it not be possible to get a bit with longer neck? I actually want to try just that on some cutting boards I have… What bit do you use for that?

Splinter, thanks man, big smile. Yes I think this jigs making time, will be home after two projects, from then it makes life easier each time, so a well made investment. (Time will tell - laughs).

TheRealS, I actually used to hate routers, until I bought the cordless Makita, it is such a joy to work with and don't have that nerve wrecking router sound. I were considering to buy the low alu profiles and make a proper knock off, but the profiles and hardware here were still not cheap (Denmark is normally app twice the price than US), so I went all in on recycle. If however it was a jig I should use daily, or bring with me on site, I would have thrown in the money. Perhaps if it becomes a favorite, I might make a upgrade. Thanks.

awsum55, Thanks, yes that would have been plain stupid in my case. I would rather have a weeks vacation, to a warm place with cold drinks, that would cost the same. ;-)

Ivan, Just replace the homemade hardware with two T-track bolts, then it's a easy template. Thanks buddy.

Glad you posted it Mads. I started making one after Little Black duck posted one lately. Never got around to do the finishing touches on it but they are great to have. Always like mixing ideas from others.

...and besides, shop made is always better.
