Project Information

my router table finally done and here it is. i built it here on my blog and it came out wonderful. its attacked onto the side of my table saw. it is a torsion box design such as the one that David Marks has and at the moment i can not afford an aluminum router plate but i tired to give this all the benefits of a router table with a plate.

as you can see in this picture i made room for my own replaceable inserts

also i made a fulcrum pin for template routing by epoxying a t-nut into the router table and putting a bolt in that i took the threads off of with a grinder and file.

so the router table in the end works great. if any one has any questions feel free to send me a message. you can see it in action here. have a nice day!

Hey TW! Great job. You have inspired me (an I'm sure some others) to build one of these. You mentioned that you are in need of a router plate. I recently found this video on youtube of someone describing his homemade router table. He did something clever (I think)-instead of an aluminum plate, he used a standard marble tile that he got for about $4! Maybe, you could try it.

This is a wonderful router table!!! if you don't mind me asking, why didn't you use the tablesaw fence as a backbone for your fence? that would allow you to adjust it more easily, i think.

Nice work, TW. I particularly liked the way you made the cutouts to reach the mounting bolts. I hardly ever move my own router table addon to my saw (actually never … yet) but if the need ever arose, well there you are … with the bolts easily accessible. I hadn't thought of using hardboard (masonite?) as a surface but I'm sure that works well too, and costs a lot less than a glue on laminate. You're right to be proud of it.

great looking router table… I like the insert option that you created… very smart thinking… almost better than a router plate and easier to keep flush with the top…
