Project Information

Completed May 28, 2012: Constructed from laminated ¾" Pine for the body and head, and ¾" Red Oak for the legs and rocker. No metal fasteners used in the construction except for the adjustable foot stirrups, I made it adjustable so it can be adjusted as the child grow older. I did not like the outcome of the staining process due to the two types wood used in this project. End up using Martha Stewart metallic paint from Home Depot and finish with 4 coats of Minwax Tung Oil.

Nice piece! Almost a carosel (sp?) horse. What was your time investment?

Thanks, I started in October of 2011 and finish May 2012, however actual time spent on this project is about 12 full working days.

I'm guessing you would make the next one out of hardwood? oh yeah Nice shop, looks well laid out and that you have working space?

Maple would be my next choice. This is my third attempt to make the shop functional and it seems to be very well laid out this time. I have no complaints. I try to keep the shop organized and clean at all times.

Oh yes, the process was very enjoyable.

Beautiful. Looks like he could just prance away. I love how you rounded him and the nice shiney finish. Love the pattern too.
