Project Information

I'm building a small and medium rocking chair (a la Hal Taylor) This shows the progress of layout, grinding, and sanding the seat.
All the parts are in the building process. The rockers are laminated for both chairs, the back brace laminations have been cut and await gluing, the front and back legs have been cut and fitted to the seats and the arms are ready for coping on the tablesaw very soon.
Both chairs are black walnut. I have 60 hours in the project thus far and hope to complete both chairs within a 100 hour timetable.

Good to see I am not the only one that does my grinding outside on the old Workmate - I just hope winter is over here in the Great White North soon so I can carve some Windsor seats.

Very nice seat shape and I like the shaping on the front edge of the seat.

Richard,
I enjoyed your website. PLease visit my website: www.coeur-de-larbre.com. I'm a retired shop teacher building Sam Maloof rocking chairs when I'm not turning bowls.
Try to stay warm up there.
I really liked your scooped bench.
