Project Information

Inspired by ejpeek's Nesting Box, I made two platforms to attrack one or two families in my backyard. I used shorts from pine boards and I won't apply any finish so they'll end up to a nice silvery grey with time. They look similar to his even if I made few modifications to match my lumber. His design seems to be a winner!

It was fun to build and it should also be fun to watch robins building their nest… hopefully. I'll add photos of the building process on my webside soon.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Best,

Serge

YEP! I like those for sure! Gonna Copy if you don't mind and I mean to Build Tommorrow!!

Every Year, 6/8 Feet from my Front Door, in an 8 Foot Juniper Tree, Birds, Usually Robins, make a nest. They are not the least bit intimidated by my presence. Problem is…shortly after they lay their eggs a Racoon or a Cat gets up in there and that's it for the eggs!! This Morning there was one on the ground broken, but still 3 in the Nest.

I don't know how often they breed, but it's worth a try!!

Thanks for Posting this Serge.

Notottoman,

What kind of birds nest in these open style houses? According to my knowledge and my books, robins, european sparlings and some species of wrens. Experiencing is the best way to go! And fun!

Best,

Serge
