Project Information

Finally succeeded in getting this ribbon to join up and mounted on a piece of red gum root. The piercing was done with my faithful Dremel set 30,000rpm. First coated with Tung Oil, then rub-on-poly and finally sprayed with spray-on poly. This was to be a practice piece using some old Oregon wood but it came up OK with the piercing and color. The bow was cut with the scrollsaw experimenting with angles, lots of wood wasted but this one will do the job. Is 450mm high and 300mm across. If you are going to try doing a ribbon just be patient and be prepared to spend a fair bit of time. Enjoy, for instructions on ribbons check my earlier projects for

Russ this one was done using segments as per MT's article but when I didn't get a great result I covered the mistakes with piercing. Thanks for the info
