Project Information

I was commissioned to build this humidor as a gift for a retiring Coast Guard Officer. The outside is made from Cherry wood, stained with Red Mahogany and finished with clear lacquer. The inside is made with Spanish Cedar to enhance the flavor of the cigars. The removable tray on the top is for ready to smoke favorites. It is designed with slots cut out to allow moist air from the humidifier in the bottom to circulate and keep them fresh. This humidor will hold approximately 50-75 cigars.

A very impressive build Tim,
pity the application for it sucks.
Maybe a couple of those lid screws reversed and hidden in the lid will allow the receiver to enjoy his retirement just that little bit longer.
50 to 75 cigars yee gods!

I take it you didnt hand carve it, otherwise you must have held your tongue just right!
Amazing detail!

I can just imagine somebody in a Coast Guard vessel plowing through the white caps on their way to rescue somebody, cigar in mouth puffing away and sporting a huge grin!

Thank you all for the positive comments.

Rob, the artwork in the wood was done with my CNC machine. The rope etched in the glass on the lid was done with our laser machine. Both machines allow us to add some creative designs and details to the finished product. They are also a lot of fun to work with.
