Replacement Chest of Drawers, case work
Time to add a back...
Needed these two items...and a cleared off bench..
Somedays, I even need 2 benches. A bead of glue where ever the 1/4" plywood panel was going to fit into. 1" long screws to attach..
Framing square to show where the web frames will be...each get a screw in the center...Top? there is a 3/4 x 1-3/8" strip glued in place up there....more of a piece to hold a kicker for the top drawer...
Bottom frame also got a pair of screws...set this mess back onto the floor,,,and found ONE of the feet was a tad too long...beltsander to lower it a bit..no longer rocking the joint...
Ripped and cross cut a supply of rails..to go across the front of the case...needed the Top Rail done first..
Was trying NOT to bust out that half pin...while hand chopping the socket for that tail.....Needed the top rail done first, as I wanted to get the last kicker installed..
Rail at the back wasn't much of a problem...dab of glue, and a 1-1/4" screw..up in front..
Didn't want to rely on a glued butt joint...added a counter-bored screw to hold while the glue sets up...will come back later with a matching plug, so this spot will disappear...
Rest of the day was spent chopping...
Plan being to work my way down to the bottom rail...clamps to hold things still, while the glue sets up..
Bead of glue to attach the rail to the frame...and set up ( at least for today) for the 3rd one...
3 out of 5...there are shims under those clamps..
As I don't feel like sanding out marks left by those metal pads...
This morning...turned the case around...
To make it easier to chop out the bottom 2 rails' sockets...had to move the Excavation Crew as well..
Yes, I do use all of these...
Stay tuned...
