Project Information

A friend asked if I could build a redwood fence since I was a decent wood worm…..nothing fancy.. Basic panels which you can get from home depot or lowes. Instead of 8' on center I put the post exactly 8' apart. I sawed the legs off the cheaply built panels and added a 2"x10" as a kick plate to achieve a roughly 7' tall fence. (Beware zoning restrictions, most cities say no fence more than 6'.) Pretty straight forward job. I enjoyed it.

Also as a tip. I used joist hangers for the kick plate to draw the post together EXACTLY 8' as mentioned above. Its a trick I learned from my dad… do it while the concretes wet. The rest is done with a chain and come along to draw the panels together. TRUST me these panels are well worth the price BUT NOT square , NOT true, Miss measured and often times not even the color. In the store they all look ok… it's just get the stuff and lets go! get home and you run across ONE panel thats sat on top and yellowed out from the sun. Take your time and try to sort through these… It took me an hour to pick 10.
