What kind of wood is it?

Came from a dying Red Bud that we cut down at my father in law's. Unfotunately since I turned it so green it has checked quite a bit in the past few weeks. Affects the visual but shouldn't affect performance. I guess I'll just have to start using it and not worry about beating it up….

See my other projects for a bowl that I turned from this same tree. Next week I will post a few other projects that are Christmas presents; can't divulge those just yet…
