Here is a play table I made out of reclaimed pallets and a leftover sheet of birch plywood. My sister requested that I make one for my nieces for Christmas this last year. I don't remember the dimensions. It is like 2ftx3ft and 18" tall. I made the side rails out of the slats on the pallet which ended up being rough cut oak, the legs are pine 4×4's with freehand tapers done on the table saw, and a sheet of 3/4" birch plywood mounted in the middle. It is all held together with pocket hole screws and titebond. Stained with minwax water based stain and finished on top with that two part epoxy bar top gel that gives you a really nice thick kid proof finish and then some wipe on poly on the sides and legs. made it really last minute and it is more thrown together than I would like. I really wanted to dado in the table top to the sides and put a few more coats of poly on the finish but the free shipping to Texas (my parents) was leaving the next day. I received the pictures via text from my folks after they delivered it to their Texas grandchildren on Christmas. The second picture is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the lip I put on top of the table (the balls are spinning and bouncing around on the table without falling off). I also hear it works well to keep spilled coffee off the carpet.
