Reclaimed Cedar from my Deck Replacement
Tools Used
Table Saw, Jointer, Planer, Router, Dovetail Jig
Location
Pennsylvania
So a couple of years ago I completed a deck replacement at my house, and when I removed the old (painted red) decking, handrails, fascia, etc., I realized they were all cedar. I saved a couple of pieces, planed them all down and went to work. The result was this Blanket Chest with Antique Handles.

This is very cool. A great use of recycled material. I really like your design and how all the various shades of the cedar make it very distinctive. Each section (top, base, drawers, and the trunk ) are all unique but combine to work together as a whole. Bravo...

Very nice. Did you hand cut the dovetails or use a jig? Not that it matters. They look very uniform. I've built a few chests and have always used my D4R.

Beautiful! I love using reclaimed lumber. You did a great job. The scaffold lumber rack is a nice touch 😁

I used my Leigh Jig. I love that thing.
