Project Information

I was fortunate to be in Darrell Peart's first "Raftertail Table making class. I can't say enough good things about Darrell's classes. This was my 4th class and they were all great. I made two tables in the class, a side table for a chair and a sofa table for behind our sofa. I had some size restrictions and Darrell was great about helping me work those out. Our sofa is a brown leather and the sofa table was made of Kayha with a medium brown stain. I was afraid that the table would get lost behind the sofa with a glass top. I have a supply of spalted Longhi (a hardwood from South Africa) and I made the tops from that wood. I am not an accomplished photographer and the pictures may not do justice to the tables. However, I think both tables look good with the spalted tops.

They look fabulous - I really like the design and the spalted looks great. It almost looks like marble - but better because it is wood!
