Project Information

I designed a quick action lever router lift for my shop. The lift slides extremely easy with steel bar slides. It's quickly locked into place and unlocked for lowering. A stop block is incorporated so you can quickly and easily return to your previous position if you need to use the top surface. It was designed to go in a table saw extension wing which I will complete at a later date. Due to the pivot location of the lever there is a 2:1 or 3:1 mechanical advantage for easily adjusting the bit to a desired location. One of the main objectives with this lift was to keep the build very simple so no micro adjusting mechanism is used. I honestly don't think it's necessary anyway as I can fine tune the bit height by hand just fine.

For those who are interested I have a lot more info and plans here:

Really cool, Jay. I like how the setting can be locked in, but you can also quickly lower the bit. Clever design!

Excellent design Jay, I also like that net stop for a repeat cut. And I like the simple lift mechanism, makes for a quick set up. Nice work and I really enjoyed the video.

Like the style!
It's the first one I've seen that dosn't involve a vastly expensive "turn the screw" adustment - can I steal your design please?

You're a gr8 fabricator Jay. I think the only thing I might add is a piece of sandpaper where the lift lever adjuster knob is. Just for a little extra holding power, especially when the router is running and vibrating, that might possibly loosen up, and you wouldn't want that. Good stuff, as always.
