Project Information

My brother called a couple days ago and wanted this for a Christmas gift. Since there's no reason to wait till the last minute, I decided to get it done right away. After all, he gave me 5 days to make it.

4 feet wide, 2 feet deep and 3 feet tall. Made of Beetle Kill Pine. Several coats of lacquer.

Thanks for reading and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

You guys amaze the stuffing outta me…it would take me weeks of planning and fabrication to generate that…and it still wouldn't look close to that good!!! Great project Monte. Merry Christmas buddy.

Nothing like putting you on a time limit, huh….......?!

Well, it turned out great! I'm sure they'll get a lot of use out of it! Here's hoping you get a nice bottle of bourbon out of this!

I like that design and can't believe you knocked it out that quick.

When did you switch to lacquer? Spray or brush? Where can you do lacquer and deal with the fumes?

I use lacquer when there is a time crunch. In the attached garage with ventilation.

Brushed. I want to get a setup to spray though.

Thanks Monte. I've been wondering about that brushing lacquer. Any suggestions: brush type, really thin coats, don't overbrush?

Now that's a cool boot bench. I remember having something similar when we were young.

Great looking bench Monte. What a great gift.
I have been using water based Minwax Helmsman poly for a quick finish in cooler weather. Can't handle those lacquer fumes. Merry Christmas!
