Project Information

I just finished this QUEEN ANNE LOWBOY. It's made from air dried walnut and poplar.

The fan drawers are a little off the top and don't really belong on this project. I have never seen a period lowyboy with two fans. They usually have a single central fan or no fan at all. But, I wanted to carve them anyway…

Although, I still have far to go in my quest to become a craftsman, the journey, and time in the shop, are such a joy. I made a 3 minute video of the build process that can be seen on youtube at

Steve, I saw the video. I saw the finished piece. Not too sure what you feel is between you, and cap and gown day.

Very nice work, Not going with the flow of everybody else,
you need to step it up a notch.
I looked at your other projects, very amateurish, maybe you could take some classes or something to help get to the craftsman stage.

pffft. :)

While this is not my favorite style (engineer, linear, A&C), I can fully appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that went into creating this piece of fine furniture. I think your take on this style is spot on and two fans makes it your's. Well done.

Beautiful work. I believe if you want to change a design element on a piece your working on, the piece is yours, do what you want. You don't have to do an exact copy another piece. Great craftsmanship!

Thank you all for your kind encouragement. But, I am constantly humbled by woodworking. For instance I find it a huge challenge just to sharpen a gouge. And sharpening a specialty gouge such as a back bend is down right intimidating!

Some of the craftsmanship I have seen on this site amazes me. And I am constantly inspired by projects I viewed have here. Thanks again for your encouragement and, may you get as much joy from your time in the shop as I have.
