Project Information

Queen Ann Low Boy. I came across a single board of Honduras Mahogany, 28 inches wide by 16 feet long. I was able to make this Queen Ann Low Boy and the vanity from the single board. All secondary wood is poplar. The plans for the Low Boy were taken from an issue of Woodworker's Journal (I think!). The vanity was copied from a customer who brought in an antique for stripping and refinishing. I copied the piece with cardboard templates and made the piece out of the mahogany left over from the Low Boy.

Thanks for the nice comments. To answer "thedude50", I am a self taught woodworker. I believe the vast majority of us are. Since retiring from the Navy (1987), I have attended many week long and weekend workshops. Most of what I've learned over the past 45 years has come from woodworking magazines and books. My basic philosophy is to just do it!! I have no problem with doing a project over and over until I'm satisfied. My biggest dream and one of only 2 items on by "Bucket List" is to attend the North Bennett Street School's furniture making program. (The other Bucket List Item: a red Corvette!!
