Nice looking coffee table. The cherry looks really nice. So what are the mysterious squares?

Peter,

About those squares. Well, when I started to cut the first mortise, I realized that I had the wrong edge against the fence on the machine!

Very nice work.

Now are you going to try carving some ball and claw feet? Maybe for a lowboy.

A handsome table. Give it a couple of hundred years and it will turn nice and dark !

That's an interesting point about the cherry darkening. I made a cherry end table about seven months ago. The cherry in the end table and this table are from the same tree and were finished in the same way. I am amazed at how much darker and richer the end table already is, even though it gets very little direct sunlight.

great build chuck. I think the wood selection is perfect for this piece. Where is it sitting now?

Happy Holidays!

beautiful table! I haven't been brave enough to try the cabriole legs yet, but would like to some time. you should put some of those "mysterious" blocks in every project somewhere and make it your signature:)
