Welcome to LJ's that's a great build. I like the taper on the bottom of the legs. I have one suggestion, having made several tables like this myself, you might want to round over the edges. It prevents them from getting dinged up and it leaves a nice looking edge. Just a suggestion, it did come out beautiful.

Very nice. The oak really pops out on the top.

Fantastic job! I really can't believe this is your first "serious" piece - really great dimensions and finish.

Looks a LOT like the one I made a few years ago - mine, BTW, was certainly not my first project. Yours looks just as good or better!

Thank you all for the encouraging words!

Bob - it does look much like yours - but no dovetails in mine :) so you win!

Martin - thank you for the hint on the edge. I can see the danger of dings in a normal household!

This was your first real true build?! I know people been making sawdust for 20 years that wouldn't know where to start. Nice piece well done.

I took a woodworking class through my town's recreation department. We could make whatever we wanted and I decided to do this table. Most of the other people in the class were much less ambitious, but I did not know that when I decided to do this! Fortunately the classroom was very well equipped, so I did not have to make the investment in tools it would normally takes. I also had an excellent teacher who exhibited a lot of patience!

Thank you for not asking about the perfectly nice pieces of wood that became scrap by the time I was finished with them. This took me the whole term to make, plus plenty of time outside the classroom.
